Pinjam: borrow.

A lending shelf at every session

The shelf starts with our host Najah Tarmizi's own collection and grows with books members lend. Borrow one at any session in Kuantan and bring it back at the next.

How borrowing works

  1. Pick a book from the shelf at any session.
  2. Write your first name and the date on the card inside the back cover.
  3. Bring it back at the next session, finished or not. That date is your tarikh pulang.
  4. Need longer? Tell us, and keep reading.

The card in the back

Every book on the shelf has a borrowing card, like the ones in old school libraries. Next to your name, add one line for the next reader: something to look out for, or a question the book left you with.

Over time, each card collects a short conversation between people who have read the same pages.

Lend a book of your own

Have a book you'd like others to read? Bring it along. We add a borrowing card and write your name inside the front cover as the owner, and it comes back to you whenever you ask.

The shelf takes novels, short stories, memoirs, poetry and non-fiction, in Bahasa Melayu, English or any other language, as long as they're in readable condition. Please keep textbooks and magazines at home.

If a book goes missing

It happens. Tell us, and replace it if you can. Nobody gets fined.

Borrow your first book at Session 1

The shelf is out on Saturday 7 November 2026 at The Bloom Society by Hajar. RSVP to save your seat.
